FAQ

Do you do in-person or virtual sessions?

The short answer is, that I offer both in-person and virtual sessions. My preference leans towards in-person interactions, and I'll explain why shortly. However, I recognize the importance of accessibility and reaching as many people as possible. So, feel free to choose whichever format suits you best. But…

When humans are physically present with one another, something truly special occurs.

In-person sessions allow us to fully engage with body language, tone, inflection, and facial expressions. These subtle cues significantly enhance our ability to communicate effectively, build rapport, and establish trust. Consequently, I find that clients often achieve better results and leave my office with greater confidence and a sense of ease.

That being said, I have also witnessed remarkable outcomes through virtual sessions. For those who can embrace vulnerability and commitment, despite the physical distance, phone or video sessions may be effective.

Well, you’ve heard my perspective, but the choice is yours.

Do you accept insurance?

The Counseling Guild does NOT accept insurance. We accept cash, credit/debit cards (through our secure processor), or FSA/HSA cards.

Do you provide counseling to children?

Right now, I only see adult clients ages 18+. However, I do have experience helping parents improve their relationships with their kids and behaviors at home. This can be something discussed during our initial phone call.

Do you do evaluations or diagnostic assessments?

No. My work is geared toward people who want to change their own patterns of behavior, feelings or thoughts. I’m NOT trained to give court-ordered psychological evaluations, Disability assessments, CPS assessments, or testimony for custody battles. My focus is helping people uncover real hurdles and creatively overcome them.

How long will I be in counseling?

It truly depends. The duration of counseling comes down to your goals, personal history, our session progress, and what you’re doing outside of sessions to reinforce our work together. Through our initial consultation, intake forms, and first session, we will be able to answer this question with more clarity.
